Apple hat heute Abend die dritte Beta des kommenden iOS 5 veröffentlicht. Wer einen bezahlten Entwickler Account hat, kann sich iOS 5 Beta 3 herunterladen.
Die 824MB große iOS-Aktualisierung hat die Build-Nummer 9A5259f. Dazu gibts auch noch die passende Version von iTunes 10.5.
CultOfMac hat bereits die ersten Änderungen der neuen iOS 5 Beta 3 zusammengetragen, und aktualisiert den Artikel laufend. 9to5mac hat dazu noch die Release Notes publiziert.
Nachdem Google seit der Einführung von Google+ das Design von Gmail und anderer Dienste überarbeitet hat, ist nun Youtube dran. Endlich kann ich da nur sagen, sieht doch Youtube aus wie ein alter Windows 3.11 PC.
Im Youtube Blog kündet Google die Design Änderung mit den Namen Cosmic Panda an. Das ganze wird quasi als Feld Test für alle gemacht. Jeder der das neue Youtube Design haben möchte kann Cosmic Panda für sich aufschalten. Wem es nicht gefällt der schaltet einfach wieder zurück.
Google will damit Erfahrungen und Feedback sammeln. Das Design verändert sowohl die Player Sektion wie auch den eigenen Channel. Das ganze sieht dann ein wenig wie Vimeo aus, gefällt mir aber sehr. Ist moderner und stylischer. Hoffe Google schaltet das neue Layout nach der Testphase endgültig auf.
Was meint ihr zum neuen Design?
Apple hat heute per Medienmitteilung mitgeteilt, dass der App Store die Marke von 15 Milliarden Downloads erreicht hat. Das der App Store ein Grosserfolg ist erstaunt eigentlich nicht.
Der Konkurrenz fehlt es entweder an genügend Inhalten oder, wie vor allem der Android Market zeigt, an Übersichtlichkeit. Denn obwohl im App Store mehr als 425 000 Apps zum Download bereit stehen, ist es dort viel leichter das gewünschte Programm zu finden als anderswo. Das liegt vor allem am viel gescholtenen Review Prozess, welches nicht funktionsfähige Apps aussortiert und den App Wildwuchs begrenzen hilft.
Apples Marketing Chef Phil Schiller kann also zu Recht stolz sein:
In gerade einmal drei Jahren ist der App Store zum aufregendsten und erfolgreichsten Marktplatz für Software geworden, den die Welt je gesehen hat. Danke an all unsere unglaublichen Entwickler, die den App Store mit über 425.000 der coolsten Apps bestückt haben und danke an die über 200 Millionen iOS-Nutzer, die diese mehr als 15 Milliarden mal heruntergeladen haben.
Wenn es mit der Entwicklung so weiter geht werden wir gegen Ende Jahr die 20 Milliarden knacken, eventuell gibts ja dann wieder App Store Gutscheine zu gewinnen.
Nachdem Apple die iCloud vorstellte und Google mit Google Music kommt, war Amazon mit seinem Cloud Drive unter Zugzwang. Nun hat Amazon reagiert und gibt mächtig Platz in der Cloud.

Seit Google+ letzte Woche vorgestellt wurde, werde ich immer wieder gefragt wie man denn eine Einladung dazu erhalten könne. Es gibt verschiedene Wege bei Google+ dabei zu sein, alle haben aber gemeinsam das sie nur hie und da fuktionieren.
Warum das so ist, hat Google+ Engineering Director Dave Besbris heute erklärt:

As I bet you’ve noticed, we are facing pretty incredible demand for Google+ invites.
As Engineering Director of Google+, I wanted to take a moment to explain why we’re growing the system slowly. First, we want to make sure our infrastructure scales so the service remains fast and reliable. Second, we want to ensure that bugs are fixed while there are still a relatively few people in the field trial.
Things are going well with the systems right now so we feel comfortable enough to open up invites for a brief period. Our goal is to double the user base in the field trial. (Sorry, we’re not giving details about how many folks are in the field trial yet).
So, in a few minutes, we’ll open up invites again.
We continue to throttle invites, so please don’t mass invite folks as it won’t work. If you invite a handful of your most important friends and family you’re much more likely to get these folks into our system.

Ist für mich nicht wirklich das grosse Thema, aber viele von euch haben sehnlichst darauf gewartet. Der Jailbreak für das iPad 2 mit iOS 4.3.3 ist da. Sogar so einfach, dass es wirklich jeder hinbekommt.
Einfach mit dem iPad die Webseite jailbreakme.com ansurfen einmal drücken und nach 20 Sekunden ist eure Apple Gerät geknackt und der Cydia App Store drauf. Habs kurz ausprobiert und es klappt ohne Probleme.
Diese einfache Möglichkeit wird wohl nicht lange offen bleiben, daher empfehle ich euch es gleich auszuprobieren wenn ihr eurer Gerät mit alternativen Apps und Features aufrüsten wollt.
Facebook hat heute eine neue Videochat Funktion vorgestellt. CEO Mark Zuckerberg stellte die Funktion an einem Event in Seattle vor. Die Videocalling Funktion ist bereits aufgeschaltet und kann unter facebook.com/videocalling aktiviert werden. Danach habt ihr bei jedem eurer online Chat Kontakte ein kleines Kamerasymbol, mit welchem ihr direkt im Browser einen Videonaruf herstellen könnt. Diese Einfachheit der Videofunktion, unterstrich man an der Präsentation auch besonders:

Die Videofunktion wird durch Skype ermöglicht, welches die Technik beisteuert. Skype bekommt dadurch auf einen Schlag 750 Millionen Benutzer welche seine Technologie brauchen. Im Unterschied zur Videofunktion Huddle von Google+, kann Facebook Videocalling keine Multi Videochats. Man ist also immer mit einer Person dran und basta.
Bevor ich noch keinen Videocall innerhalb von Facebook gemacht habe kann ich das neue Feature nicht abschliessen beantworten, denke aber, dass allein durch die 750 Millionen Benutzer von Facebook (Zahl wurde heute offiziell bestätigt) der Erfolg da sein wird. Nach einer rund 3 monatigen Beta Phase, ist gestern WordPress 3.2 erschienen. WordPress 3.2 ist wieder ein Major Update, es wurden diverse Komponenten geändert oder upgedatet. Am auffälligsten ist der neue Vollbildmodus im Editor, welcher mit sehr gut gefällt.
Überhaupt wurde vor allem im BackEnd Bereich gearbeitet. Das ganze fühlt sich schneller und schlanker an. Die Liste der Neuerungen ist lang, anbei ein Auszug aus den Highlights:
